A leading company in diabetes care is seeking a Senior STARS Technician in Witney to lead the Product Test team. Your role will involve ensuring compliance and quality in sensor testing, while you drive process improvements in a collaborative environment. If you are a proactive leader with laboratory experience and excellent communication skills, this could be the right opportunity for you.
Abbott’s Diabetes Care business designs, develops, and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. We have recently launched a new system that will revolutionise how people with diabetes monitor their glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior STARS Technician to lead our Product Test team in providing quality and compliant sensor testing.
Developing, leading, and motivating your team, you will ensure quality, yield, and output deliverables, maintain and champion EHS initiatives, and drive 6s and process improvements. On a day-to-day basis, you will take ownership of your area, act as a representative at daily meetings, report on metrics, escalate issues effectively, and coordinate between teams. You will support daily walk-around activities, interacting with quality, engineering, and other relevant support functions as required. Through visual inspection of sensors and physical testing procedures, you will utilise laboratory equipment, machinery, and instruments to perform sensor testing and batch record review and approval to support product release, on-market stability, complaints, and product development trials. Additionally, you will support the control and scheduling of tests, monitor and assist with daily laboratory activities, and stay informed about new or changed products and processes within the area.
To be successful, you should have experience and passion for leading teams and delivering results. You should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment within a hard-working and welcoming team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader capable of effectively multi-tasking while working within procedures and protocols, with good communication and time management skills. This is a shift work role, operating on a rotating pattern of early and late shifts (0600 – 1400 and 1400 – 2200), from Saturday to Wednesday.
You should have completed, at minimum, secondary education in English and Mathematics. Previous laboratory experience (including GLP and GMP) and familiarity with analytical/testing instruments to provide a general knowledge of laboratory science are preferred.
In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package, including a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme tailored to your needs.
