This position is for a Senior Staff Software Engineer in the Personal Lines IT organization. The Personal Lines development team is passionate about technology and strives to build well-architected and innovative solutions for the business. Personal Lines has adopted Scrum & development methodology and core agile engineering practices such as continuous integration and test-driven development.

This position will have overall end-to-end technical accountability for a sub-value stream. The role requires leadership functions demanding strong planning, estimating, collaboration, application design/development, and communication skills. You will lead design teams and develop technology solutions to address business needs and help develop the next generation of systems for various value streams.

Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on technical lead for Scrum teams, accountable for technical deliverables across the software development lifecycle.
  • Proactively address technical issues and risks impacting project schedule and application integrity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design solutions aligned with business needs and architectural vision.
  • Mentor and train project team members to enforce development guidelines and best practices.
  • Coordinate between disciplines to design, develop, implement, and support complex solutions.
  • Perform technical reviews including code review to ensure quality.
  • Experience with REST API, SOAP Web services, XML/JSON data structures, and API contract negotiation.
  • Development experience with .NET, ASP.NET, C#, HTML, XML, Java, JavaScript, Angular, JSON, SQL.
  • Experience with Duck Creek Suite of Products and integrations, cloud hosting (AWS preferred), and relational databases.
Leadership Functions:
  • Lead IT design and development teams to implement solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture.
  • Support multiple work streams, prioritize tasks, and mentor team members.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field with 10-12 years of application development experience.
  • 7+ years in application design and solution development.
  • Experience with cloud applications, Duck Creek products, CI/CD, Agile frameworks, high concurrency applications, and front-end technologies.
  • Knowledge of P&C insurance and AI solutions is a plus.

This role requires a hybrid work arrangement, working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday-Thursday). Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. The listed salary range is $126,160 - $189,240, based on experience and performance.
