Job Description:

Company Overview

Flux is pioneering a new class of AI accelerators called Optical Tensor Processing Units (OTPUs). We’ve already developed functioning prototypes and are now scaling our operations in London. Our work environment rewards innovation, speed, and bold thinking.

The role

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Senior/Staff/Principal Digital Design Engineers with a strong focus on CMOS digital design to lead the design, validation, and implementation of high-performance digital circuits for our next-generation OTPUs. This role demands deep expertise in digital circuit design, simulation, verification, and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and semiconductor physics, along with a passion for developing reliable, high-performance digital circuits that drive breakthrough AI hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced CMOS digital integrated circuits, including RTL design, schematic capture, simulation, layout, and verification to meet the performance targets of our OTPU systems.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including optical hardware engineers, to ensure seamless integration of digital circuit blocks within our overall system architecture.
  • Analyse digital circuit performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement innovative solutions to optimise power, speed, and reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and promote best practices in CMOS digital circuit design, simulation, and testing.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in digital design methodologies and semiconductor technologies to continuously improve design practices and tooling.

Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of industry experience in CMOS digital integrated circuit design, with a proven track record in digital logic design and verification.
  • Expertise in digital design simulation, RTL coding, schematic capture, layout design, and testing using industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for performance optimisation and signal integrity in digital circuits.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective teamwork across multidisciplinary groups.
  • Proven ability to thrive in dynamic, high-pace environments where innovation and speed are paramount.
  • A drive for personal projects and continuous learning that differentiates you in the field.

Details

  • Competitive salary ranging from £135k+, depending on experience.
  • Stock options in a rapidly growing AI company.
  • Based in our new 5,000 square foot office in the AI hub of Kings Cross, London.
  • Flux hires candidates within a 45-minute commute of our office—offering an extra £24k/year incentive if you choose to live within 20 minutes.
