Job Description:

The Role

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative person to join our Cambridge-based toolchain performance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a keen interest in DevOps, software quality, and performance testing, who wants to influence the future of Arm IP and the Arm eco-system.

Our team works on a diverse range of compilers and toolchains, including open-source projects like GNU and LLVM, as well as closed-source Arm compilers. Our goal is to address software performance challenges across various hardware and software platforms. Your work will help us manage this complexity and provide the engineering teams with reliable insights into software performance on Arm IP.

This involves writing custom code to extend software or connect systems, and managing hardware benchmarking platforms such as mobile phones, developer boards, servers, FPGAs, and simulators for new CPU designs.

Our infrastructure is tailored to our needs, and we will support your onboarding and further development of this system.

We are part of a larger team of compiler engineers and DevOps specialists passionate about toolchain testing, eager to support your growth.

Location

This position is based in our Cambridge head office, which hosts diverse teams working on development tools, compilers, debuggers, technical communications, DevOps infrastructure, and open-source software.

Responsibilities:

  • Support CI/CD pipelines and automation for software development teams.
  • Maintain hardware devices for validation and benchmarking.
  • Develop and extend automated testing and benchmarking infrastructure.
  • Modify existing software or create new integrations between systems.
  • Debug issues across the stack, from data visualization to Linux kernel crashes.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure provisioning and operations.
  • Develop custom solutions for reporting and aggregating results.

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Strong knowledge of software engineering, cloud, CI, and testing.
  • Experience with Linux environments, scripting, and command-line tools.
  • Proficiency with version control systems like Git.
  • Advanced scripting skills, e.g., Python, Bash.
  • Experience leading or designing projects to improve software efficiency and quality.

Nice To Have Skills and Experience :

Familiarity with the following is beneficial but not mandatory. We will support your growth in these areas:

  • Build automation tools like TeamCity or Jenkins.
  • Understanding of performance metrics for compilers, assemblers, and linkers.
  • Hardware configuration and maintenance in server or board farms, including firmware and OS updates.
  • Web frontend frameworks such as Flask, CSS, HTML5, Bootstrap, ReactJS.
  • Performance tracking and visualization tools.

In Return:

Along with a compelling package, we offer a vibrant team culture, including Friday focus times, career development conversations, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and a mindset of continuous improvement.
