Senior Staff Nurse - Trevor Howell Day Unit

  • We have an exciting opportunity for a SACT giver to join our Trevor Howell Day Unit team.
  • To provide leadership to a team administering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies & supportive treatments to day case oncology & lymphoma patients.
  • In this role you will be a professional role model, leading and coordinating the nursing team.
  • To be able to safely coordinate the unit and ensure that there are education and training opportunities for all staff.
Main duties of the job
  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to develop leadership skills within the Trevor Howell Day Unit.
  • The successful applicants will join a highly skilled specialist team that offer treatments including SACT and supportive therapies to patients with solid tumours as well as malignant haematological conditions.
  • The candidate will have a recognised SACT course, have experience in administering SACT and have venepuncture/cannulation skills.
  • The post holder will be expected to provide and maintain high standards of care to our patients, meeting trust values, be able to work autonomously as well as part of a cohesive team and demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to this group of patients.
  • You will need to be able to work well under pressure and cope with conflicting demands.

  • Proof of study at level 6/7 or prepared to undertake level 6/7 study

  • Attended a clinical leadership programme
  • Evidence of implementing a change into practice
Experience
  • Minimum of two years post registration experience, of which at least 1 year should be within the speciality
  • Ability to identify stress in self and others and to take effective action to manage the situation
  • Understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment

  • Evidence of audit or research project
