Children's Services are looking to recruit a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse for Paediatric day care - Jungle ward.

We are looking for an experienced children's nurse who has the appropriate skills and knowledge to help manage our very busy Paediatric Day Ward. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver expert nursing care, advice, and support to children and their families and our junior staff.

The post holder will work together with our multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care to the children having medical and surgical day procedures. The role will involve coordinating care and treatments while ensuring smooth flow of services with kindness and compassion.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver expert nursing care, advice, and support to children and their families and our junior staff. The post holder will work together with our multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care to the children having medical and surgical day procedures.

The role will involve coordinating care and treatments while ensuring smooth flow of services with kindness and compassion. The post will require an individual who is confident and sufficiently experienced to work with a degree of clinical independence while helping to manage a team of skilled nurses and liaising with unit consultants.

Person Specification:
  • RN Child

Essential: 2 years post-reg minimum at Band 5

  • Degree

Desirable: 1 year at Band 6

Experience:
  • Demonstrate understanding of ward management, staffing, workflow, and skill mix

Essential: IV medication certificate

  • Ward management course/qualification

Desirable: Venepuncture and cannulation skills

Staffing and Rota Management:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of staffing and rota allocation

Essential: Demonstrate a knowledge of safeguarding

  • Level 3 safeguarding course

Desirable: Course
