Job description

We're looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join the team on our Neurorehabilitation and Complex Care Inpatient Ward at The Portland Hospital, currently rated Good by the CQC and the UK's only private hospital dedicated to the healthcare needs of women and children.

As a Senior Staff Nurse, you'll play a key role in the smooth operation of the department. You'll support and mentor junior nurses, using your in-depth clinical knowledge to guide and support them, and lead the unit in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse. You'll implement and evaluate holistic care plans for children, participate in audits, and quality improvement projects to continually improve care.

Main duties of the job

Your role will include:

• Implementing and evaluating holistic care plans for children in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team
• Participating in audits or quality improvement projects to continually improve care
• Supporting and mentoring junior nurses
• Leading the unit in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse

Person Specification

Qualifications

• NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support

Experience

• Experience working within Paediatric Neurorehabilitation and complex care needs
• Understanding of Safeguarding issues
• Teaching and mentoring experience
• Excellent clinical governance and experience with audits
• Experience of supervising and assessing students and shift leading is desirable
• Experience with tracheostomised patients is desirable
