St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Staff Nurse for the Paediatric day care - Jungle ward.

The successfully candidate will be expected to deliver expert nursing care, advice and support children and their families and our junior staff. The post holder will work together with our multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care to the children having medical and surgical day procedures.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating care and treatments while ensuring smooth flow of services with kindness and compassion. The role will involve managing a team of skilled nurses and liaising with unit consultants.

Job responsibilities

PROFESSIONAL/CLINICAL

  • Complete relevant competencies for the paediatric unit and specific competencies to each clinical area.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care using research/ evidence as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership, motivating the ward /department team to ensure excellent nursing care.
  • Ensure that all nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with St Georges Healthcare NHS Trust policies.

ORGANISATIONAL

  • Co-ordinate the admission/reception of new patients in conjunction with the Bed Management Team.
  • Deputise for Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence when required.
  • Arrange, in consultation with the multidisciplinary team and the Bed Manager, the discharge/transfer of patients.
