Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million, with a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

This is a permanent post and the shift pattern for this post is 07:30–20:00 and 19:30–08:00. Please note the salary is pro rata for part-time hours.

About the role

An opportunity has arisen for a vacancy within PICU for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse. Previous PICU experience is essential. The Critical Care unit is a 22-bedded unit caring for patients including emergency and elective surgery, cardiac services, orthopaedics, trauma, general medical, oncology, ENT, neurology and neurosurgery, and plastic surgery, with responsibility for lead service provision throughout Scotland and referrals from other centres and Europe.

Responsibilities
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, assess care needs and develop programmes of care, and/or implement and evaluate these programmes to ensure delivery of high-quality care to patients.
Qualifications
  • Part 8 or 15 on the NMC register. Part 1 on the NMC register must be competent in looking after adult ICU patients.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential to become part of the multidisciplinary team.
