Job description

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Team. This is a 12 month secondment to cover maternity leave. The role will give the candidate the chance to manage the specialist area and support individuals and teams to deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Along the way, you'll build strong relationships with consultants, hospital senior leaders, a wide range of healthcare professionals and, of course, patients. Working collaboratively alongside the consultants, you'll ensure patients benefit from the best possible treatment and care.

Responsibilities

1. The post-holder will be responsible for providing specialist nursing care in the Cardiac Catheter Lab, to provide pre, peri and post procedure care of patients undergoing diagnostic/interventional cardiac treatment - including diagnostic angiograms, PCI's, PPM implants, ICD implants and CRT implants
2. Supporting the Lab Manager in decision making of daily operational issues in the lab & recovery area, including the co-ordination of the daily listing and allocation of patient slots in the lab.
3. Help to develop and implement systems to measure and achieve high standards of quality clinical care by establishment of audit programmes. Identify clinical risks and take appropriate action in accordance with Trust Policy
4. Deputise for the Lab Manager ensuring adequate resources are available to provide safe and efficient service
5. Be responsible for the provision of a clean and safe environment for the physical and psychological well-being of staff, patients and their relatives
6. The post-holder will provide excellent patient focused care to patients with acute/chronic cardiac disorders as part of the nursing team and the wider MDT and act as a role model at all times.
7. Care will be negotiated and discussed with patients; ensuring informed patient choice is the goal of all care provided.
8. To contribute to the implementation of quality strategies and processes to improve the service we provide.
