Job description

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, (LGT), is a community-focused provider of local and acute care, delivering high-quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich, and Bexley.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Team. This is a 12 month secondment to cover maternity leave. The role will give the candidate the chance to manage the specialist area and support individuals and teams to deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Job Overview

The post-holder will be responsible for providing specialist nursing care in the Cardiac Catheter Lab, to provide pre, peri and post procedure care of patients undergoing diagnostic/interventional cardiac treatment.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. Provide specialist nursing care in the Cardiac Catheter Lab.
  2. Support the Lab Manager in decision making of daily operational issues in the lab & recovery area.
  3. Help to develop and implement systems to measure and achieve high standards of quality clinical care.
  4. Deputise for the Lab Manager ensuring adequate resources are available to provide safe and efficient service.
  5. Be responsible for the provision of a clean and safe environment for the physical and psychological well-being of staff, patients and their relatives.
  6. Provide excellent patient focused care to patients with acute/chronic cardiac disorders as part of the nursing team and the wider MDT.
  7. Care will be negotiated and discussed with patients; ensuring informed patient choice is the goal of all care provided.
  8. To contribute to the implementation of quality strategies and processes to improve the service we provide.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain excellent communication with patients, carer's, colleagues and all members of the MDT.
  • Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team regarding the care and treatment of patients to optimise health outcomes.
  • Work in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and ward nursing team in assessing the priorities of patient care and the staffing requirements.
  • Acknowledge the limits of your professional competence and only undertake practice and accept responsibilities for those activities in which you are competent.
  • Maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team/primary nursing incorporating the Named Nurse initiative.
