Description

Are you ready to shape the future of DevOps at a growing tech company? At OpenAsset, we're on the lookout for a Senior/Staff Software DevOps Engineer to help scale and evolve our modern, AWS-based cloud infrastructure. You'll be instrumental in supporting the backbone of our software platform as we grow, innovate, and deliver great experiences to our customers.

In this hands-on technical role, you’ll drive innovation and continuous improvement across our systems. You’ll ensure high availability, strengthen automation, and uphold top-tier security and compliance standards as our infrastructure expands.

As a senior member of the team, you'll help define our strategic vision, establish best practices, and evolve team processes. Your leadership will be critical; mentoring engineers, guiding technical direction, and solving complex challenges that come with scale.

If you're passionate about DevOps and want to make a meaningful impact on the way our products are developed, delivered, and maintained, we’d love to hear from you.

Join us and make a lasting mark on our products, our people, and the future of DevOps at OpenAsset.

Responsibilities

As a Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer at OpenAsset, you'll play a key role in shaping and scaling our infrastructure while enabling our engineering teams to deliver faster, more securely, and more reliably. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Project Ownership

  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of DevOps initiatives across multiple release pipelines.
  • Take ownership of infrastructure projects from concept to deployment, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Engineering teams (core-platform, AI, frontend, backend) to automate processes and improve efficiency.
  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to enable seamless deployment, integration, and system operations.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide strategic guidance on DevOps architecture, tooling, and best practices that align with business goals.
  • Research, evaluate, and introduce advanced technologies and methodologies to keep our infrastructure cutting-edge.

Communication & Mentorship

  • Promote clear, effective communication across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor team members through code reviews, coaching, and fostering a culture of growth and learning.

Strategic Problem Solving

  • Identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and performance issues.
  • Drive root cause analysis and long-term solutions for complex production incidents.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce security best practices across systems, environments, and pipelines.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal governance policies as the infrastructure scales.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Maintain clear documentation of infrastructure design, processes, and DevOps standards.
  • Continuously update and refine playbooks and runbooks to support team onboarding and operational excellence.

Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in a DevOps role with a focus on AWS.
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with cloud infrastructure.
  • In depth experience deploying and managing AI/ML models in cloud environments, with hands-on experience using AWS services such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, and related tools.
  • Python and/or Java background, with experience in developing their CI/CD processes.
  • Strong systems architecture skills and experience working with multiple backend systems at scale.
  • Experience with clusters of servers, scaling considerations and operational processes.
  • Experience with data residency and managing across multiple data centres.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, continuous integration, and deployment for reusability and testability.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipeline tools (we use Github Actions)
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code tools with a preference towards Terraform (OpenTofu).
  • Strong knowledge of containerization technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security best practices.
  • Service Design & Infrastructure Architecture.
  • Experience defining SLA (internal and external).
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence without formal direct reporting relationships.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working cross-functionally with Engineering and Product teams.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, effectively managing sprints and delivering iterative improvements.
