Job description

We are excited to advertise a 0.8 WTE Band 6 Senior Speech and Language Therapist position, offering opportunities to develop leadership skills. The main duties include managing a community caseload and undertaking team lead responsibilities.

The post is based in the Torbay, South and West locality.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) is developing an innovative, integrated model of children’s community services. We seek enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly and dedicated locality and county-wide professional teams.

As part of a large community service, you will join a supportive group of professionals, fostering collaboration and professional growth, which will benefit your career development and support network.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Managing a caseload of children and young people with complex Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) using evidence-based practices.
  2. Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions in various settings, individually, in groups, or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Providing clinical support and supervision to less experienced SLTs within the team and across pathways of care, such as Speech, Language and Communication, Neurodiversity, Community Children’s Nursing, Physical and Sensory, and Vulnerable Children’s Pathways.
  4. Working with the Clinical Team Manager to coordinate clinics and oversee daily caseload management.
  5. Coordinating team audits and monitoring outcomes, reporting to the locality lead.
  6. Participating in student placements.
