Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist - Horsham

Salary: £46,148 - £52,809 DOE (Pro Rata) plus £1 per hour location allowance

Hours: Flexible working hours available.

Main duties of the job

MAIN PURPOSE:

To work within a multi/interdisciplinary team providing speech and language therapy (SaLT) to People We Support with acquired brain injury (ABI) and to lead SaLT services within the organization. To collaborate with internal and external professionals, families, and People We Support.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply the neurobehavioral approach to brain injury, demonstrating knowledge of current research and best practices.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of People We Support with complex needs and challenging behaviors.
  • Use evidence-based, person-centered practice and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments considering environment, context, and future needs to develop appropriate rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication and dysphagia therapy programs, and referrals.
  • Overcome communication barriers to actively engage People We Support in assessments, rehabilitation, and discharge planning, including working within legal frameworks for those lacking capacity.
