An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust for a Specialist Dietitian for Prehab Oncology Services to join our acute team in a part-time Band 7 position. This post is fixed-term until April 2027 but may be extended if funding continues.
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, Kirklees Active Leisure Trust, and Wakefield Councils are collaborating with Yorkshire Cancer Research and Sheffield Hallam University to implement the Active Together model for individuals diagnosed with cancer in Wakefield and North Kirklees.
The Active Together programme runs alongside existing diagnostic and treatment pathways to ensure patients are optimally prepared for treatment and beyond. This funded 3-year programme will be staged into all relevant cancer pathways. Patients will receive assessments and be triaged into support pathways tailored to their needs, delivered at NHS hospitals, local council and leisure facilities, or through self-management.
The post holder will work at any location where the Trust provides services.
You should have experience working as a dietitian across various specialties, including oncology and nutritional support.
The post involves working as part of the Active Together, Yorkshire Cancer Alliance Prehabilitation team, supporting patients with cancer to prepare for treatment.
The role includes providing advanced, specialized dietetic care, advising patients, families, carers, and healthcare staff, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
You will manage a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence-based, client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions to prevent admissions and optimize nutritional status prior to oncology treatment.
You will work as an autonomous practitioner and participate in training and supervising dietitian students and junior staff.
