Who are we?

We want to be the best place that any of our 6,600 colleagues have ever worked.

We’re Phoenix Group, we’re a long-term savings and retirement business. We offer a range of products across our market-leading brands, Standard Life, SunLife, Phoenix Life and ReAssure. Around 1 in 5 people in the UK has a pension with us. We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet.

The role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced investigator to join the Phoenix Speak Up (whistleblowing) team. Reporting into the Head of Speak Up, the successful candidate will support the delivery of our Speak Up programme, manage sensitive investigations and help to ensure a culture of trust across the organisation.

Working within a Speak Up team of three other investigators, and supported by the Speak Up Panel, this role will play a key part in maintaining the integrity of our processes and investigations. You will be responsible for conducting robust, legally compliant, evidence-led internal investigations into Speak Up allegations, helping keep our business safe.

The role will also support the design and delivery of the Group’s Speak Up programme, including but not limited to awareness and promotion activities, training, on-going enhancements, and governance reporting. Deputising for the Head of Speak Up on Speak Up matters where appropriate, this role may also involve liaison with the SMCR Whistleblowers’ Champion and presenting updates to senior governance forums such as ExCo and Board Audit and Risk Committees.

This role is best suited to a skilled investigator who has a passion for ethics, transparency, and organisational accountability, and someone who can act as an ambassador for an open culture, promoting psychological safety in delivery of all aspects of the role.

What are we looking for?

  • Significant senior experience in Speak Up/whistleblowing, Conduct, HR or other relevant workplace investigations.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills with the ability to assess evidence, weigh risk and document findings clearly and concisely. Proven ability to conduct complex investigation interviews.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to prepare reports and brief senior stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of whistleblowing legislation, regulatory and ethical reporting standards.
  • High integrity with a deep commitment to fairness, non-retaliation and doing what is right.
  • Experience investigating complex and sensitive allegations relating to material non-financial misconduct.

We want to hire the whole version of you.
