Job description

We are a bold, award-winning business that prides itself on giving our chefs the freedom to create premium, seasonal menus that impress our customers within an industry-leading environment. Our kitchens are friendly, welcoming, and positive, with high standards; we are always striving to be the best we can be.

We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef to join our team.

Located in the picturesque town of Corsham, Wiltshire, The Methuen Arms is a stunning Georgian coaching inn offering 19 stylishly renovated bedrooms, award-winning food, and delicious Butcombe beer on tap.

With plenty of character, this cozy country pub with rooms is situated beside Corsham Court and just 10 miles from Bath. It is an ideal base for exploring Wiltshire and the Cotswolds, with attractions like Lacock Abbey and Castle Combe nearby.

Food and drink are central to our identity. We are passionate about using local, seasonal, and sustainable produce, sourcing many ingredients from our own kitchen garden.

Our venue offers private hire spaces, and in warmer months, our beer garden is perfect for outdoor dining and drinking.

What’s in it for you?

  • Work/Life balance: this role can be done over 3-4 days if preferred. We value flexibility and will support you in achieving it.
  • The opportunity to work for an award-winning company and cook some of the industry's most innovative pub food, having won awards for Best Food Offer and Best Managed Pub Company.
  • Access to Liberation Life, a platform offering cashback with major retailers, discounts on holidays, groceries, gifts, and more.
  • The chance to gain experience in diverse kitchens and menus, with a collaborative approach to menu development and autonomy over your dishes.
  • A competitive salary and an equal share of tips.
  • Industry-leading training and development through our ‘Pillars of Progression’ programme, supporting your growth towards head chef roles or other ambitions.
  • Additional coaching from our executive chef team and head chefs.
  • Opportunity to work with locally sourced, fresh ingredients and execute technical skills on our premium menus.
  • Supportive tools and significant investment in our kitchens.
  • Team events, training courses, supplier interactions, and rewards, including 50% off food on shift.
  • A caring business that supports mental health through partnerships with the Burnt Chef Project and an Employee Assistance Program available 24/7.
