Job description

Aramark UK is recruiting a Senior Sous Chef to lead the culinary team at one of our sites in Manchester, Withington Girls’ School. Withington Girls’ School is a leading independent day school with circa 760 pupils and 150 members of staff, located in the Fallowfield area of the city.

This is a full time (52 weeks / year, 40 hours / week), permanent position and the Senior Sous Chef will predominantly be working Mon-Fri with occasional weekend and evening work to allow for hospitality events. The hours are 06.30-14.30 to allow for breakfast and lunch preparation and service.

A day in the life of a Senior Sous Chef:
  • Lead the culinary operation & provide support for the production team
  • Direct the preparation / duties to the duty chefs and other kitchen staff
  • Arrange on and off duties for all staff, also ensure that the team has a great work / life balance
  • Function work and planning
  • Cooking and preparing food ready for breakfast and lunch service
  • Support and direct the team (a team of 8, made up of Chefs and KPs)
  • Monitor food service standards, food counters, set up and replenishment during service
  • Completing daily paperwork to cover due diligence
  • Assisting with deliveries and stock checks
  • Placing food orders and maintaining kitchen records
  • Management of production and food levels to ensure minimal wastage
  • Undertake relevant training as required
You’ll be set up for success if you have:
  • Previous experience in a similar contract catering environment as a Senior Sous Chef (preferably within the education sector but this is not essential)
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or similar
  • IT skills, great technical communication and Microsoft packages experience
  • Good knowledge of food production methods
  • Extensive knowledge on allergens
  • An assertive yet approachable / helpful outlook
