A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SENIOR SOUS CHEF at The Ramada By Wyndham Hotel Belfast

What you'll be doing...

  • Directing the food preparation process and delegating tasks
  • Cooking and preparing high quality dishes using various techniques
  • Assisting the Head Chef to create menu items, recipes and develop dishes
  • Supervising all kitchen stations and providing guidance to junior level staff
  • Working with Head Chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
  • Being responsible for health and safety in the kitchen and food hygiene practices
  • Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created
  • Assisting with determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering
  • Ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines
  • Maintaining good working relationships with colleagues to create a positive working environment

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

To succeed in the role of Sous Chef, you will need the following qualities and skills.

  • Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Awards - advantageous
  • Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award - advantageous
  • Strong communicator with friendly and pleasant personality
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to engage with staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, but also to use initiative and to work autonomously, as required
  • Ability to cover all work lines, as needed
  • Creative use of ingredients and recipe design
  • Competent level of English spoken and written
