Hi, Are you an experienced procurement professional? Are you looking for a new challenge and to be part of a historic project that will change UK Steelmaking? Are you based in or around Port Talbot?

We have an initially temporary Sourcing Lead role available with Tata Steel's Port Talbot works. The successful applicant will be an individual who has proven experience delivering a supply chain of commercially sound goods, materials and services within a multi layered organisation.

This role is office based with occasional remote working

Competitive

Contract Length

12 months initially with the view to extend, or offer a permanent position

Shift Patterns

Mon-Fri, 36.5 hours per week. Mon-Thu 08:30-16:45 and Fri 08:30-15:45

Start Date

ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment. This does involve a drug and alcohol test.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the team to manage a multi billion supply chain globally
  • Ensuring the lowest possible cost base and maximum value from all supply agreements
  • Helping to achieve a commercially robust management for goods, services and materials
  • Sourcing goods, materials and services for Tata Steel that align to Tata's sustainability values
  • Working with Senior Management to ensure the security of goods, materials and services and minimal disruption to business operations
  • Developing, deploying and executing UK commercial contracts
  • Conducting market research to ensure appropriate route to market and fit for purpose supply base
  • Being part of a historic and transformational Steel project: Project Invictus
  • Delivering a professional procurement service to the business
  • Liaising with stakeholders internally and externally face to face, over the telephone, virtually and over email
  • Creating strong business partnerships and being the 'go to' for commercial advice, guidance and support with challenges
Essential Requirements
  • Strong background within Procurement (5+ years)
  • CIPS membership (desirable)
  • Educated to degree level (preferably within a relevant subject matter)
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to the size and nature of the site)
  • Excellent knowledge of procurement practice
  • Proven experience making the best commercial decisions within a complex organisation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill
  • Good IT literacy, especially with MS office including Word, Outlook, teams and Excel
  • Sound numeracy skill
  • Proven experience of self development
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capability of using own initiative and applying a proactive approach to tasks
