Your contribution directly impacts the value to our customers and members, and business growth across Domains / Business Value Streams of Protection/Assurance, Equity Release, Long-term Savings/Pensions, Long Standing Customers, Annuities.

Our Senior Solutions Architects work with senior stakeholders to guide the development of technology products and drive solutions for our core propositions. You will bring experience in modern architectural practices to innovate, refresh our estate, and experiment across organizational capabilities. Projects include cloud computing, AI, consolidation, migration, integrations, and simplification. Solutions involve changes to business processes, operating models, applications, data flows, infrastructure, and third-party services.

You should have a solid understanding of business goals, objectives, outcomes, capabilities, value-streams, and processes, and their importance in solution architecture.

About the role

• Reports to the Principal Architect (Lead Domain Architect) and aligns with the Business Value Stream to deliver innovative solutions that meet strategic business outcomes.
• Leads large-scale Policy Administration Systems migrations and challenges the status quo with modern architecture options.
• Works in a fast-paced environment within an enduring squad in the regulated industry, preferably Insurance, Life Assurance/Pensions/Annuities.
• Develops own and team capabilities, coaching and mentoring other architects.
• Provides enterprise guidance, exploring emerging technology trends to influence business and operating models.
• Uses architecture modeling languages like ArchiMate, C4; EA tools such as Ardoq, BizzDesign, LeanIX, Orbus Infinity; frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman; and design tools like Visio.

Responsibilities

Interpret Business Needs

• Translates requirements into architectural blueprints and documents all design and analysis work.
• Collaborates with product owners and managers to support future requirements.
• Understands business drivers and capabilities to ensure solutions are traceable to transition and change requirements.

Assess Technology

• Monitors current solutions to identify deficiencies and aging technologies.
• Supports decisions on retiring or refreshing services and systems.
• Analyzes environment for technical debt and improvement opportunities.
• Evaluates software products and vendor options, including RFP assessments.
• Ensures solutions across all architecture layers are robust, including security and infrastructure.

Apply Technology

• Leads evaluation, design, and analysis of technologies aligned with enterprise strategy.
• Manages architecture for projects or initiatives, ensuring integration with enterprise capability.
• Acts as a technology consultant to drive business outcomes.
• Coordinates with project management to align execution with designs.
