The Senior Solution Architect's role involves understanding business requirements and translating them into effective designs that support business goals. The architect will collaborate with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technology vendors to define solutions architecture across the system portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic vision, roadmaps, and architectural principles.

The role also involves participating in the enterprise architecture community, improving operational practices, and fostering cross-functional knowledge exchange. The architect will establish and oversee a solution architecture service within AHUK, providing designs for strategic and tactical needs aligned with local assessments and technical design authority standards.
- Develop high-level solution designs for programs or projects, leveraging expertise from domain specialists and third-party providers to ensure alignment with business needs and supportability.
- Consider broader factors such as strategic goals, architectural vision, existing IT landscape, and IT portfolio.
- Provide high-level cost estimates for comparison and recommendations.
- Seek approval from the Architecture Governance Forum.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, understanding their objectives and acting as a trusted advisor on technology decisions.
- Collaborate with third-party providers to explore opportunities and assess compatibility.
- Engage with stakeholders to evaluate product and service suitability based on requirements, standards, and principles.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness in working with vendors on licensing and models.
- Communicate design decisions and their rationale effectively to stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain the application portfolio for Alliance Healthcare UK, integrating it into the broader enterprise architecture.
- Ensure identification and documentation of application, data, infrastructure needs, and system interdependencies.
- Operate within the Enterprise Architecture Framework and maintain information in the repository.
- Identify project prerequisites or dependencies, understand implications, and communicate to minimize rigid dependencies.
- Provide design governance during project delivery to maintain solution integrity and evaluate changes.
