Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting, a UK-based digital transformation partner, seeks a Senior Solution Architect to lead design for a major government client. You will guide complex services, align legacy systems with modern cloud platforms, and shape secure, scalable payment journeys across high-volume environments.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary agile teams, translating policy into technical direction and ensuring architecture governance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on architecture experience with payment systems (Open Banking and payments)
• Strong knowledge of reconciliation, idempotency, locking, webhook reliability and data integrity in high-volume services
• Experience architecting in mixed estates, integrating legacy platforms with cloud-native services
• Strong solution architecture across the full delivery lifecycle (discovery, Alpha, beta, live)
• Confident in ADRs and trade-off analysis to justify decisions
• Ability to turn ambiguous business and policy needs into clear technical direction
• Hands-on with at least one major cloud platform and modern integration patterns
• Collaborative, iterative design with delivery squads, not isolated work
• Information security, data protection and threat modelling fundamentals
• Strong written and spoken communication for technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience delivering digital services in UK central government or regulated environments

Responsibilities

• Own the solution design for a complex service, including dependencies on legacy components
• Design pragmatic migration and integration approaches between core systems and cloud services
• Design and assure end-to-end payment journeys, including banking provider integration
• Produce high-level designs and decision documentation for squads to build from
• Collaborate with engineering squads through design reviews and sprint planning
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders across the engagement (architecture and security)
• Shape patterns and reference architectures and navigate governance and design assurance
• Frame complex problems and present options for the right delivery approach
