A local government authority in Scotland is seeking an experienced legal professional to join their Litigation and Advice team. This role involves handling litigation, advocacy, and advisory work across various functions, requiring effective communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates should hold a Current Practising Certificate and have substantial litigation experience. The position offers a competitive salary ranging from £47,979 to £50,880 per year and requires 35 hours of work per week.

Working within Legal and Democratic Services you will be part of our Litigation and Advice team. You will undertake litigation, advocacy and advisory work in connection with all the Council’s functions or on behalf of any other body for which the Council provides legal advice.
You must have an extended period of post qualifying experience, hold a current Practising Certificate, be able to carry out a range of tasks within a broad litigation-based remit and manage a demanding workload with minimum supervision.
It is also essential that you have effective interpersonal, communication and report writing skills, together with the ability to work as part of a team.
Experience of undertaking litigation work in the following areas will be advantageous: Debt Recovery, Education, Employment, Housing, Planning and Social Work. Effective IT skills, experience of supervision of administrative/paralegal staff and a willingness to be involved in designing and delivering training for client services is also desirable.
