James Fisher Defence (JFD) is seeking a Principal Software Engineering Team Lead to shape the design and delivery of robust software across its product portfolio. You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team through the full lifecycle, from concept and design to verification, validation, release and end-of-life support.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience leading software projects and lifecycle activities.
• Knowledge of product design and systems integration.
• Experience using PLM systems and engineering documentation processes.
• Proven ability to lead within multidisciplinary teams and manage quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of software engineers across the full lifecycle.
• Oversee software development to ensure quality, performance and compliance.
• Own software delivery, performance, and supplier/contractor relationships.
• Provide technical leadership for verification, validation, and release.
• Maintain software source code, build environments and design docs.
• Deliver objectives within budgets and timescales with accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, Production, HSEQS and Bids.
• Lead people management including recruitment, onboarding and development.
• Share best practices with other Engineering Team Leads and support improvements.
• Champion safe, compliant engineering practices and risk mitigation.
