Job summary

Pearson Engineering Ltd in the North East of England is seeking a Software Solutions Architect to shape end-to-end software architecture and CI/CD for Remote and Autonomous Systems. You will balance innovation with defence standards, ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable software across the product line.

You will lead design reviews, collaborate with R&D teams and external partners, and guide the integration of software with physical hardware from concept to final release.

Qualifications

• A degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science with a 2:1 or equivalent.
• Proven experience of software system level design for scalable, maintainable and secure systems.
• Proven experience implementing CI/CD for safety-critical software.
• Experience in integrating software architecture with physical hardware (robotics/control systems).
• Experience with Linux and real-time software in C/C++ or Python.

Responsibilities

• Lead defining and developing Software Architecture and CI/CD for Remote and Autonomous Systems.
• Implement system level architecture enabling scalable, maintainable software solutions.
• Ensure governance and security standards compliance for defence software.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable code using modern practices.
• Contribute to the engineering lifecycle from design to maintenance of software systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware.
