Job summary

KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Newcastle upon Tyne with hybrid working arrangements. You will design and govern software architecture and CI/CD processes across autonomy, robotics, and sensing platforms, ensuring scalable, maintainable systems built to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Strong track record in software architecture for safety-critical or compliance-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience with C/C++ and Python in Linux real-time environments.
• Confidence reading electrical schematics and working across hardware/software boundary.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for safety-critical software.
• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (2:1 minimum).

Responsibilities

• Define and implement end-to-end software architecture and CI/CD pipelines for remote and autonomous systems.
• Establish unit testing, verification, and validation processes to meet defence safety-critical standards.
• Integrate architecture across control systems, computer vision, sensor fusion, simulation, and digital twin platforms.
• Support system integration, commissioning, and real-world field trials with global military end users.
