Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown in Bristol is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple squads within a Product Team. You will own delivering goals, set technical direction with Architecture and Principal Engineers, and ensure high-quality delivery of software throughout the life cycle.

You will mentor staff, manage headcount, and collaborate with senior Platform & Product teams to align strategy and execution.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multiple squads within a product/customer driven environment.
• Proven track record delivering complex software while setting technical direction.
• Strong people management, coaching and performance development skills.
• Able to balance delivery, quality and timelines in a scalable architecture.

Responsibilities

• Set direction for all team members to deliver solutions to the business.
• Ensure the team works in an optimal way to deliver outcomes.
• Act as mentor and coach to staff.
• Ensure the team has the right balance and experience of team members.
• Work closely with Platform & Product Teams on engineering and management.
• Encourage documentation of code and processes, especially around best practices for Agentic AI solutions.
• Cultivate relationships with colleagues, business users and other technical teams.
• Review quarterly objectives and assess team performance.
• Hire and onboard new team members and retain top talent.
• Escalate resource or infrastructure needs as required.
• Schedule regular 1:1 meetings with team members.
