An opportunity to play your part - As a Senior Software Engineering Manager within Centrica's DTS Team, you will lead and mentor multiple teams, ensuring their technical delivery aligns with our strategic goals. Your primary focus will be on guiding the careers and development of your team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Working closely with colleagues in Product, Quality, and Architecture, you will ensure that the solutions delivered meet and exceed expectations.

Location: UK, Windsor (talk to us about flexible working)

The day to day:

• Ensure your teams have an effective and efficient delivery process that focuses on delivering working software sooner and unlocking value early
• Organise and lead technical design sessions
• Work with PMs to scope out epics and iterations; ensure NFRs are included in the scope
• Ensure refinement is timely and effective and that enough work is refined to plan sprints
• Ensure sprint activities take place and are effectively facilitated
• Ensure delivery metrics are updated, reviewed and discussed, and action taken where necessary
• Ensure constraints and impediments beyond the team’s control are escalated and resolved
• Ensure your teams have a clear strategy for the evolution and improvement of their domain, and that it is visible, understood and followed
• Support your teams to develop roadmaps for local domain improvement and evolution
• Support your teams to demonstrate the need for investment in improving their domains
• Monitor quality metrics and incident rates in your teams and work with teams to define appropriate action

• Ability to guide and mentor teams, fostering a supportive environment for growth.
• Skill in aligning technical delivery with business goals and developing effective strategies.
• Proficiency in ensuring high technical standards, championing best practices and innovation.
• Competence in working with Product, Quality, and Architecture teams, ensuring alignment and clear communication.
• Capability to maintain efficient delivery processes, facilitating design sessions and sprints.
• Talent for resolving constraints and monitoring quality metrics, taking appropriate actions.
• Active participation in Centrica’s engineering and quality communities, sharing knowledge.
