About the team: This position supports the integration of Syft Analytics into our ecosystem to accelerate our mission. Syft Analytics is a leading global cloud-based reporting, insights, and analytics platform.

About the role: As an Engineer at Xero, you’ll build reliable, scalable solutions, contribute to our products, and help your team adopt strong development practices. This is a hands-on role focused on integrating analytics tools and building analytics from the ground up to turn complex data into clear insights. We value a solid technical foundation and a growth mindset. This is a 12-month fixed-term, fully remote position.

What you'll do:

1. Create software - Develop high-quality, scalable software, automate manual processes, and participate in code reviews.
2. Test software - Design testing activities to ensure product quality, coach team members on testing standards.
3. Resolve issues - Assess causes of issues, communicate impacts, participate in incident responses, and contribute to post-mortems.
4. Engineering standards & frameworks - Contribute to Xero's engineering standards and work with senior engineers to apply them.
5. Continuous improvement - Maintain and share knowledge of development technologies.
6. Deliver infrastructure - Automate delivery processes and support engineers to ensure software runs smoothly.
7. Modern practices - Promote agile and delivery practices, coaching others to ensure consistency.
8. Recruitment - Participate in interviews and hiring processes.

What you'll bring:

• Experience as a Senior Software Engineer, delivering high-quality solutions at scale.
• Proficiency in (Express) and React, with experience building scalable solutions.
• Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and backend systems, full lifecycle ownership.
• Success mentoring junior engineers and establishing best practices.
