Job summary

Marks & Spencer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Stock Domain team in London. You will lead the modernisation of our order management software, building data pipelines, APIs, and event-driven systems to support online growth with scalable, reliable, and secure technology.

You will work across the stock platform, collaborating with product managers and other fulfillment teams, using cutting-edge tools and cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and scaling data-intensive distributed systems with batch and streaming workloads.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve reliable data services and APIs in Java and Micronaut, with Kafka integration.
• Own features end-to-end from design through production monitoring and deployment.
• Shape the Stock Platform's services, APIs and event flows for stock visibility and e2e reliability.
• Champion engineering excellence with well-tested code, reviews, and documentation.
• Drive operational excellence and observability using Dynatrace and monitoring best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to solve business problems.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and grow the engineering community.
