Job summary

Trayport is seeking a Senior Software Developer in London to join the Joule Direct team, focusing on reliability and high-throughput, low-latency energy trading systems. You will work with software, QA and DevOps engineers to drive systemic improvements and support large-scale services.

Responsibilities include implementing features, improving observability, mentoring engineers, and coordinating across exchanges and trading venues.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and supporting large-scale software systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and performance considerations.
• Comfortable collaborating with infrastructure engineers on networking and kernel tuning.

Responsibilities

• Improve how we connect to Exchanges/Brokers (eg CME, ICE, EEX).
• Implement customer-facing features via SDKs and APIs.
• Enhance observability for hot paths and critical flows.
• Benchmark code to reduce latency and increase throughput.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design discussions.
