Job summary

Trayport seeks Senior Software Engineers to join the Joule Direct team, building a high-throughput, low-latency energy trading platform. You will collaborate with Product Managers, Testers and DevOps to deliver reliable, scalable systems and drive improvements across the stack.

You will mentor engineers, design complex features, improve observability, and work with C#, Rust and modern tooling in a cloud/on-prem environment, embracing learning and innovation.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to articulate technical concepts.
• Strong knowledge of C#, Rust or other popular languages.
• Able to write efficient, concurrent code.
• Understanding of distributed systems and their failure modes.
• Familiarity with version control systems.

Responsibilities

• Improve how we connect to an Exchange or Broker (eg. CME, ICE, EEX, etc).
• Implement customer facing features via SDKs and APIs
• Improve observability in hot paths
• Benchmarking code to reduce latency and improve throughput
• Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
• Design, plan and execute complex features and raise RFCs

Job description

We're looking for skilled SRE engineers who will focus on improving the reliability and scalability of Joule Direct, a widely used energy trading platform. You will work across our cross-functional teams of software engineers, quality engineers and devops engineers to help drive systemic improvements to the reliability of our systems. Ideally you have many years of experience building and supporting large-scale software systems and you feel comfortable talking to infrastructure engineers about networking issues or kernel tuning as well as reporting .NET garbage collector bugs to Microsoft!

The Role

We're looking for Senior Software Engineers to join our Joule Direct team, to help us build and improve our high-throughput, low-latency energy trading platform. • Improve how we connect to an Exchange or Broker (eg. CME, ICE, EEX, etc)

• Implement a new Automated Trading feature
• Benchmarking code to reduce latency and improve throughput
• Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
• Design, plan and execute complex features and raise RFC's

Our Tech Stack

We use GitHub Copilot for agentic development Our services are written in modern C# and Rust We use a fair bit of SQL databases, Kafka, and RabbitMQ We run some services on dedicated hardware and on AWS We use Azure DevOps for build/deploy pipelines and story management Our observability stack is Splunk, Grafana, Pyroscope and Prometheus
