Core Banking is at the heart of Santander UK IT, responsible for most of the key applications that sit at the centre of the bank’s I.T. operations.

The team maintain and evolve the bank’s core banking application, provide access to the data and applications and processes within it and are leading the strategic Gravity transformation, moving the core applications to the cloud.

The Gravity transformation programme has a vacancy for a Senior Software Engineer to work with the project team of analysts, developers across the Group to deliver Retail Gravity in the UK.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Collaborating across multiple teams from the UK and Group on a variety of technical delivery workstreams
  • Providing Technical leadership, sharing knowledge and developing plans with Subject Matter Experts
  • Representing the team in meetings with senior stakeholders when required
  • Designing and enhancing the technical solutions with extensive problem-solving abilities

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Technical and functional knowledge of the Partenon core banking system
  • Extensive experience in IBM COBOL, JCL, and SQL
  • Experience and knowledge of the Gravity Micro Focus platform
  • Proven data analysis, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience in Control-M and utilities
  • Proven experience in IT build development and support and able to lead technically complex issues and collaborate to provide a path to resolution

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Experience of Oracle & Unix
  • Experience of Micro Focus Tool Sets
  • Ability to speak Spanish

What else you need to know:

This permanent role is based in Unity Place – Milton Keynes.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
