Your new role

Overleaf is a scaleup and social enterprise building modern collaborative authoring tools for scientists, similar to Google Docs for Science. We develop an online, real-time collaborative editor for papers, theses, and other LaTeX documents. With over 21 million registered users worldwide, 700,000 daily users, and over 100 million user projects, we are a leader in this space.

Note: We may close this position early if we receive a high volume of applications. We can only consider candidates residing in the UK, Spain, Germany, or Romania.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers and UX researchers to provide technical input on new features.
• Develop high-quality frontend and backend code in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Implement automated testing to ensure code quality.
• Deploy code to production, practicing DevOps principles.
• Participate in code reviews and support rotation.
• Document code thoroughly and adhere to security best practices.
• Engage in our development process, including retrospectives.
• Work with your manager to develop your skills through regular 1:1s.

Optional participation in our on-call rotation is available after probation.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience building web applications with JavaScript, Node.js, and React.
• Experience with software development best practices.
• Comfortable working remotely.
• Bonus skills include Linux, Docker, Prometheus, MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Pub/Sub.

• Full-time work availability.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Availability during core UK hours (1400-1700).
