The Product

OCI Functions is a fully managed, multi-tenant, highly scalable, on-demand, Functions-as-a-Service platform, deployed in dozens of commercial, government, and private data centers around the world. The Functions deployment model is extremely flexible, supporting a wide variety of use cases. OCI Functions is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for Oracle SaaS workloads, supporting API Gateway for customer applications, and Data Science processing use cases.

The Positions

Senior Software Engineer

As we expand and grow our team, we seek engineers with varying experience levels. Beginners will have a passion for learning, while experienced candidates will bring diverse skills across programming, networking, storage, internet protocols, and operating systems. All engineers can have significant technical and business impact.

As part of our diverse and skilled teams, you will solve and design solutions for challenging problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services.

The Responsibilities

On a typical day, you will work as part of a small, focused, agile team and may:

• Write backend code in Java, Python, Go, or other modern languages.
• Work with containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker, containerd, and Kubernetes.
• Deploy and operate your software in data centers worldwide.
• Analyze, diagnose, and debug issues across our stack.
• Maintain and improve existing systems, focusing on performance and operational efficiency.
• Build tooling and automation to scale operations.

Participate in the software engineering community at Oracle and beyond. You may:

• Discuss technical solutions and build consensus among teams.
• Design and implement new features or services for our customers.

All engineers participate in operating and supporting the product in production and take part in a 12x7 on-call PagerDuty rotation, typically every 5-7 weeks depending on team size.
