Job summary

Deliveroo is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for our London Hybrid team (3 days from the office). You’ll help improve code structure and architecture while leading project planning to maximise efficiency and reliability across production systems.

We seek deep experience across web stacks (Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, Rust) and a passion for scalable, well-tested software in a fast-moving marketplace.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering principles: write readable, well-designed, and well-tested software.
• Backend experience: building web-based applications using modern stacks.
• Data proficiency: relational DBs and NoSQL backends like Redis, DynamoDB, or ElasticSearch.
• Systems at scale: manage architecture for high-traffic, scalable systems.
• Technical leadership: break down work and guide engineers.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical excellence across your team’s codebase and architecture.
• Lead project planning, foresee dependencies and align with Product/Design.
• Optimize operations to improve maintainability and production readiness.
• Collaborate across teams to influence the technical roadmap.
• Mentor teammates and participate in engineering interviews to grow the team.
