Job summary

Edrington Group in Scotland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and support software solutions that enable premium consumer experiences and efficient operations. You will work across modern cloud platforms and APIs while collaborating with product owners and designers to deliver value in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Initially, the role sits within Global Digital Technology, with opportunities to broaden across operations and analytics after the placement.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles (e.g., SOLID).
• Experience with database design and management (SQL, NoSQL).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and cloud-native design.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and version control such as Git.
• Experience with Github Copilot or similar AI assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business and user needs.
• Design, develop, maintain and enhance applications, APIs and cloud-based services.
• Support the successful delivery of projects, features and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure the stability, security and performance of production systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and deliver business value through technology.
• Take ownership of services and components, contributing to their design and ongoing support.
• Promote engineering best practices, governance standards and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
• Analyse business requirements and define effective technical solutions with stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot incidents and improve system reliability, resilience and performance.
• Develop automated tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Support data integration, operational workflows and business processes.
• Work closely with product, analytics and operational teams to deliver business outcomes.
