Job summary

SelectScience is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead hands-on product development across the main site, client reporting analytics, and new AI-enabled features. You will own end-to-end delivery, shaping architecture, and ensuring robust, scalable systems in a hybrid UK-based team.

You’ll work on a Next.js/React stack hosted on Vercel, collaborating across editorial, marketing and commercial teams, with a focus on performance, accessibility and security.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Strong React and TypeScript with modern patterns and state management.
• Experience with Next.js, SSR/SSG/ISR understanding, and Vercel deployments.
• Experience integrating REST and GraphQL APIs, including auth and webhooks.
• Disciplined automated testing in a CD/CI environment.
• Hands-on AI-assisted development experience, e.g., Claude Code.
• Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and frequent, safe releases.
• Attention to performance, accessibility, and security in frontend apps.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and ship features across new products, client reporting system, and main website.
• Own architecture decisions and maintainability across codebases.
• Integrate AI capabilities into customer-facing products.
• Break roadmap into deliverable increments with realistic estimates.
• Write and maintain automated unit and integration tests.
• Review code and evolve engineering standards across the team.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems and data sources.
• Collaborate with editorial, marketing and commercial teams.
