Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Reporting to: Lead Software Engineer (Graphics)

Sports Interactive is the gaming studio behind Football Manager. Founded in 1994, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of SEGA Europe in 2006. Based at Here East in Stratford, East London, the team continues to expand to bring titles to a wider audience across various platforms.

Position Overview

We aim to continually enhance the visual quality and performance of Football Manager. We are looking for an experienced graphics software engineer to join our team, collaborating with peers and the Art Department to implement features across supported platforms, using Unity as our game engine, so experience in Unity is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain rendering features including character rendering, lighting, post-processing, and materials.
• Develop and optimize shaders and rendering code in Unity for multiple platforms.
• Profile and optimize rendering performance and memory usage.
• Build and maintain tools to improve artist workflows.
• Implement automated tests and asset validation tools.
• Debug rendering issues and ensure visual fidelity within performance constraints.
• Collaborate with artists and engineers on scalable, high-quality rendering solutions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Extensive experience with C#.
• Experience shipping at least one game using Unity on multiple platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Unity URP, Render Graph, and SRP.
• Proficiency in HLSL and Shader Graph, with experience in optimized shader writing.
• Understanding GPU architectures, rendering techniques, and graphics optimization.
• Experience with profiling and debugging rendering issues using tools like RenderDoc, Unity Profiler, PIX, or NSight.
• Deep knowledge of 3D math, linear algebra, and transformations.
• Understanding real-time lighting, shadows, and PBR.
• Strong software engineering skills, including clean architecture and performance focus.
• Experience with asset pipelines from DCC tools to Unity.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with engineers and artists.
• Experience with GI solutions for procedural scenes.
• Knowledge of HDRP and multiple rendering pipelines.
• Experience with testing in C# and Unity.
• Experience developing for iOS, Android, Switch.
• Familiarity with low-level graphics APIs such as DirectX 11/12, Metal, or Vulkan.
