Job summary

Strong background in web apps with Go, Ruby, Python, Scala; scale and reliability; ownership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Significant experience building web-based applications in a modern stack (Go, Ruby, Python, Scala).
• Ability to design and operate web architecture at scale with high-traffic workloads.
• Ownership of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience with NoSQL backends like Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch.
• Commitment to software craft, with readable, well-tested code.
• Strong collaborative leadership and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical execution by designing, building, and scaling backend services and frontend components for high-traffic workloads (20krpm and above).
• Lead architectural improvements and code reviews to ensure efficiency, visibility, and operational health of the team's systems.
• Partner with PMs and Experience Designers to plan projects, foresee dependencies, and mitigate technical risks.
• Break down complex problems into deliverable choices and influence the roadmap and technical direction within the team.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to join our London team. In this role, you’ll help us build and scale seamless, high-performance features that span our entire stack, ensuring a world-class experience for our customers, partners, and riders.

What You’ll Be Doing

This role is based in our London office with a hybrid setup, typically 3 days in the office.

• Drive technical execution by designing, building, and scaling backend services and frontend components that handle high-traffic workloads (20krpm and above).

• Partner with cross-functional disciplines (PMs, Experience Designers) to plan projects, foresee dependencies, and mitigate technical risks.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others:

• Significant experience building web-based applications in a modern stack; we use Go, Ruby, Python, and Scala, and we’re looking for someone keen to work across them.

• Proven ability to design and operate web architecture at scale, specifically with systems handling significant request volumes.

• Demonstrated ownership of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience with "NoSQL" backends such as Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch.

• A commitment to software craft, with a pride in writing readable, well-designed, and thoroughly tested code.

• Strong collaborative leadership skills, with a track record of guiding implementation choices and supporting the personal growth of teammates.
