One of our companies is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Data in the United Kingdom.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced data engineer to help shape the future of scientific discovery by building and evolving a Knowledge Graph and data infrastructure. You’ll be part of a collaborative team focused on scaling data pipelines, integrating complex public life science datasets, and enabling downstream applications through advanced data modeling and transformation. Working closely with experts across engineering, machine learning, and science, you'll develop scalable, production-grade solutions while influencing product direction through a data-first perspective. This is a high-impact position where your work directly contributes to advancements in biomedical research.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and scale robust data pipelines to ensure the reliable flow of scientific data from research to production.
  • Develop and iterate on data models across storage layers, including graph databases and relational systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, science, and ML teams to extract, transform, and integrate biological datasets into a Knowledge Graph.
  • Lead technical direction for projects and act as the responsible engineer across initiatives.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions, design documents, and best practices in cloud environments.
  • Support tooling improvements for internal data access and promote data self-service.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in professional data/software engineering, preferably in high-scale or scientific domains.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience in PostgreSQL, GQL, or BigQuery.
  • Experience in building ETL pipelines, both batch and streaming.
  • Knowledge of knowledge graph design, biological ontologies, and graph databases.
  • Experience with cloud services (GCP preferred), infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and scalable data systems.
  • Experience working in collaborative agile teams with stakeholders including scientists and product teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical solutions to diverse audiences.
