Senior Software Engineer - Data Platform

Forter is seeking aSenior Software Engineer to join our Data Platform Team, where you'll play a critical role in designing and implementing tools, systems, and frameworks that ensure effective management and utilization of data assets across the organization. About the team:

In our Data Platform team, we lead initiatives that enable better tooling, processes, and visibility to unlock the full potential of Forter’s data.

As a member of the Data Platform team, you will work closely with stakeholders across the company—including software engineers, analysts, researchers, product teams, and legal experts—to promote a culture of effective data engineering practices and drive the adoption of tools and processes to improve data consumption efficiency and quality across teams.

You will take ownership of designing, implementing, and delivering tools, processes, and initiatives that enhance data engineering practices. Your unique perspective and expertise will contribute innovative ideas, helping the team develop sustainable, long-term data management solutions.

A successful software engineer excels at understanding user needs through discovery work and engaging with stakeholders to secure buy-in and drive adoption of the tools and processes they design and implement.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient data management solutions.
  • Lead projects that require coordination across engineering, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
  • Act as a liaison across multiple teams to drive alignment on data engineering initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption and integration of solutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the availability and performance of our systems.
Who are you?

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across diverse cross-regional teams.
  • Ability to influence and advocate for technical solutions while considering organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving projects that span multiple stakeholders and teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a proactive mindset.

Technical Expertise:

  • At least 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or Java/Kotlin.
  • Proven experience with distributed systems and data-intensive applications.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Strong knowledge of data systems, including relational and non-relational data stores.
  • Experience with big data tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, or Snowflake).

Nice to have:

  • Experience building or implementing data products, schema management, data contracts, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Experience leading projects, requirements gathering, and product management.
