Job summary

Mondrian Alpha, a leading hedge fund, seeks a senior software engineer to own internal tools and platforms used across investment and non-investment functions. You will work with business stakeholders to translate pain points into well-scoped technical solutions and own projects from conception to release.

You'll be hands-on across the full project lifecycle, combining engineering with business analysis to deliver tangible impact and raise the technical bar of a small, capable engineering team

Job description

A leading boutique hedge fund is hiring a senior software engineer to own and build internal tools and platforms used across investment and other non-investment functions, working directly with

business stakeholders across the firm to turn their pain points into properly scoped technical solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership of projects from first conversation to release.

You’ll work across the full project lifecycle, acting as both engineer and informal business analyst to understand what a stakeholder actually needs rather than only what they first ask for, build and ship the resulting solution, and help raise the technical bar of a small team of engineers alongside your own delivery work.

You’ll shape how a growing internal technology function builds software for the rest of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own full-stack delivery of internal tools and platforms across Investment and non-investment functions
• Translate stakeholder requests into properly scoped technical solutions rather than the literal ask
• Build and maintain back-end services in C# and front-end applications in React
• Design and support data models using SQL-based databases
• Take each project from initial scoping through design, build, testing and release
• Manage stakeholder relationships directly, including competing priorities and difficult conversations

Technical Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience
• Real hands-on experience in C# and object-oriented development, or equivalent depth in Python or Java with willingness to work in C#
• Production experience building front-end applications in React
• Practical experience working with SQL-based databases
• Background in full-stack or close-to-full-stack delivery rather than narrowly scoped ticket work
• Comfortable working directly with non-technical stakeholders and managing competing priorities
• Infrastructure exposure (Windows, Active Directory, Entra ID) is useful but not essential and can be developed on the job
