We are seeking an exceptional Full Stack Software Engineer capable of engineering sophisticated, high-performance applications supporting investment decision-making, trading, portfolio management and risk.
This is not a conventional full stack development position. Engineers are expected to demonstrate genuine technical depth across the entire software stack, challenge architectural decisions and take ownership of systems where accuracy, performance and reliability are non-negotiable.
The Role
- Architect and develop sophisticated, business-critical applications supporting investment professionals, traders and portfolio managers.
- Engineer scalable backend services and APIs using C#/.NET and/or Java.
- Design complex user interfaces for real-time financial data, portfolio analytics, trading workflows and risk visualisation.
- Solve demanding engineering problems involving large datasets, asynchronous processing, application performance and distributed architectures.
- Take end-to-end ownership of application design, development, testing and production delivery.
- Work directly with senior investment professionals to translate complex financial requirements into intuitive, technically sophisticated solutions.
- Challenge existing engineering practices and deliver elegant, maintainable systems built to institutional standards.
Candidate Profile
- Algorithms & Data Structures: Exceptional understanding of algorithm design, computational complexity, data structures and optimisation. Ability to reason through challenging technical problems and develop efficient solutions independently.
- Backend Engineering: Strong proficiency in C#/.NET or Java, with a sophisticated understanding of object-oriented design, concurrency, asynchronous programming and API architecture.
- Full Stack Architecture: Ability to design complete application ecosystems, from front-end interfaces through backend services, databases and distributed infrastructure.
- Performance Engineering: Proven ability to optimise computationally intensive applications, minimise latency and manage high-frequency data updates within complex user interfaces.
- Database Engineering: Strong SQL expertise, including query optimisation, data modelling, indexing and transactional processing.
- Computer Science Fundamentals: Excellent understanding of algorithms, operating systems, networking, memory management and software engineering principles.
- Financial Markets: Experience within hedge funds, investment banks, asset managers or sophisticated financial technology environments is advantageous.
- Academic & Intellectual Rigour: Strong academic credentials in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a similarly quantitative discipline are desirable.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to reason beyond individual frameworks, articulate architectural trade-offs and solve complex engineering problems without relying on predefined solutions.
