Job summary

Client Server, based in Newcastle, is seeking a skilled backend engineer to design and deliver business-critical services using C# and .NET. You will work on distributed systems handling large data volumes with stringent performance and reliability requirements, participating from design to production delivery.

Ideally you bring 2.1 BSc in CS from a top-tier university, strong CS fundamentals, and experience with Python or fintech data environments is a plus.

Qualifications

• BSc Computer Science or similar in a top tier/Russell Group university.
• Expertise with modern C# and .Net development.
• Strong knowledge of architecture, distributed systems and engineering best practices.
• Fundamentals in CS: algorithms, data structures, OO design and system design.
• Collaborative approach and ownership of major technical initiatives.
• Experience with Python, data-intensive systems or fintech environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using C#/.Net.
• Work on distributed systems processing large data with high performance & reliability.
• Involve across the software lifecycle from design to delivery and production.
• Collaborate closely to build robust software and continuously improve systems.
• Debate technical approaches and influence engineering direction.

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline from a top tier / Russel Group university, backed by As at A-level
• Expertise with modern C# and .Net development
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, distributed systems, and engineering best practices
• Deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and system design
• Collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for solving difficult technical problems
• Ability to take ownership of significant technical initiatives and influence engineering direction
• Experience with Python, data-intensive systems, or financial technology environments would be advantageous but is not essential
