Job summary

Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI research lab to train and evaluate frontier AI models. We’re seeking senior software engineers with deep experience at top technology, quantitative, or financial firms to join a fully remote, contract-based program.

You will design realistic software engineering tasks, write reference solutions and tests, assess AI-generated code, and help calibrate judgments against set standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in leading tech orquantitative firms.
• Experience across more than one qualifying employer.
• Strong command of major languages (Python, Java, C++, Go, TypeScript or Rust).
• Proven ability to work in large, complex production codebases and judge code quality beyond tests.
• Excellent written English and ability to explain technical decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design realistic, challenging software engineering tasks drawn from real-world work.
• Write clear task proposals explaining realism, verification and difficulty for current AI models.
• Illustrate good practice by writing reference solutions, tests and precise criteria.
• Assess AI-generated code and engineering work with AI coding agents.
• Apply evidence-based judgment to ensure assessments are reproducible and defensible.
• Take structured feedback from senior reviewers and iterate on submitted work.
