Mercor connects elite creative and technical talent with leading AI research labs. We seek a Machine Learning Engineer for fully remote work in the UK, with a strong focus on production ML systems and deployment, using frontier AI coding agents.

The role emphasizes evaluating model-generated ML implementations and tradeoffs, building robust ML tooling, and contributing to AI-powered products with remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional machine learning engineering experience.
• Experience building production ML systems and deployment infrastructure.
• Regular use of AI coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI).
• Ability to evaluate model-generated ML implementations and tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Use frontier AI coding agents to complete complex ML tasks.
• Review model-generated implementations for training, inference, and MLOps.
• Identify bugs, edge cases, and performance issues.
• Compare outputs from multiple frontier models and assess strengths and weaknesses.
• Apply professional engineering judgment to realistic ML engineering scenarios.
