Job summary

Ping Identity's Platform Engineering team seeks a Senior Software Engineer to turn ideas into production IAM capabilities across the Ping platform, spanning infrastructure, databases, and UI.

You will collaborate across product, UX, and engineering, prototype AI-enabled solutions, and ship APIs, models, and services that help identify, secure, and govern AI agents.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use AI engineering tools to accelerate research, code understanding, prototyping, implementation, and documentation while applying sound engineering judgment
  • Experience building production services, distributed systems, or shared platform capabilities
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs, RESTful services, integration contracts, and data or domain models
  • Experience turning requirements and ambiguous problems into designs, prototypes, and production-ready solutions
  • Experience with authentication, authorisation, and identity management
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly, collaborate across teams and time zones, and support other engineers through feedback and knowledge sharing

  • Deliver IAM capabilities across the Ping platform from infrastructure to UI
  • Design and implement APIs, models, workflows, and services

You will be an active member of an innovative and passionate team developing features and key extensions to a growing enterprise product platform for the market leader in Identity Security. There is a wide variety of work including API development, identity protocol implementation, authentication systems, security vulnerability mitigation, identity management and provisioning, and performance optimizations at a large scale.

We seek a Sr. Software Engineer who will be active in developing features and capabilities within our Identity Management product suite. We require a passionate developer who flourishes in a fast-moving, agile environment, has good communications skills, an outstanding ability to translate requirements and designs to functional Java code using agentic modeling, and strong attention to security, quality, testability and performance.

You will:

  • Design and develop large-scale, single- and multi-tenant, robust, cutting-edge Java-based identity management products
  • Collaborate effectively with the distributed team, with team members in the Portland, OR metro area, Canada, and Europe
  • Analyze and elaborate on requirements with product management and architects to improve the identity platform and develop new features for PingIDM
  • Plan, estimate, and manage development tasks independently and efficiently per business plans
  • Work closely with customer-facing support teams to resolve customer issues

You have:

  • Wide experience designing and developing large scale applications in the Java programming language
  • A strong understanding of HTTP and RESTful web services
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Familiar with cloud architectures and deployment strategies (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience using AI agents such as claude code to plan, validate, and implement functionality
  • The ability to learn quickly and independently, and are capable of gathering information and understanding complex features and environments

You have an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with identity management technologies and protocols (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, certificate & key management, cryptography, etc.)I
  • Understanding of enterprise-scale systems and configurations related to security
  • Experience building performant systems that deploy and execute at scale

Salary Range: $110,000 - $137,000

In accordance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) the approximate compensation range for this role in Colorado is listed above. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors, such as knowledge, skills, and abilities.
