Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Epsom is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead full‑stack development of our digital services, focusing on the Adobe Experience Manager website. Qualifications

  • Experience developing in AEM 6.x and Java, with Templates, Components and Workflows.
  • Proficiency with AEM tech: Sling, OSGi, HTL/Handlebars, JCR/Jackrabbit, CRXDE.
  • Strong CI/CD experience with Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps and Maven.
  • Frontend skills: HTML, CSS/Sass and React.js; testing across levels.
  • Ability to communicate technical design and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate high‑quality software aligned to product goals in an agile setting.
  • Contribute to running, maintaining and evolving the AEM website as a core capability.
  • Mentor associate and mid‑level engineers, sharing AEM expertise.
  • Ensure site performance, monitoring and alerting in production (New Relic or equivalent).
  • Collaborate with product owners, delivery managers and architects on design proposals.

Senior Software Engineer - Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Epsom | Hybrid Working | Fixed-Term Contract till end of February 2027 (Maternity Cover) Competitive salary available, depending on experience 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer to join our team responsible for full‑stack software development of our user‑facing digital services and experiences, with a focus on our website powered by Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
  • Ensure high quality software is designed, delivered and operated in line with enterprise strategy and product/business goals, working within agile delivery
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑functional team, contributing to the running, maintaining, improving and evolution of digital solutions (primary the AEM website) for the benefit of the company users
  • Support the operation and day‑to‑day stability of digital solutions the team are responsible for, including component and page development, and site performance
  • Operate within a community of developers and architects, contributing value through knowledge sharing, innovation and adherence to technical standards — particularly around AEM best practices, component architecture and front‑end integration
  • Support and mentor associate and mid‑level software engineers within the team, sharing AEM expertise and contributing to the wider growth of engineering capability
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll bring (Skills & Experience Required):
  • Demonstrable experience developing in AEM 6.x and Java, implementing Templates, Components, Dialogs, and Workflows, preferably using AEM as a Cloud service.
  • Experience with AEM's underlying technologies: Apache Sling, OSGi, Java Servlets, HTL and Handlebars templating, Apache Felix, Java Content Repository (JCR), Apache Jackrabbit, CRXDE, etc.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and profiling tools to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Proficiency in utilising source control, build, and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Maven, and Adobe Cloud Manager.
  • Proficiency in writing and executing various types of tests including unit, system, performance, and integration tests.
  • Proficiency in frontend technologies: HTML, CSS (Sass) and JavaScript (React.js) and experience in writing automated tests.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of stakeholders including product owners, delivery managers and architects.
  • Experience of communicating and documenting technical design proposals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with running software in production with suitable monitoring and alerting in‑place with New Relic (or similar tools).
Desirable:
  • Full‑stack web development experience, including responsive single‑page applications (React.js), Node.js backend development, and TypeScript
  • Experience deploying web applications to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, with an understanding of microservices architecture
  • Experience with database technologies (preferably PostgreSQL) and cloud commerce systems such as commercetools
  • Experience integrating with third‑party services and platforms, including payment providers (e.g. Adyen), Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, and other Experience Platform capabilities
  • Understanding of SEO and site performance best practices
  • Experience developing cross‑platform mobile applications, preferably using React Native with Expo
